Serie of 21 works / pencil on paper / 21 X 26 cm / Interdesign, Chile
Day after day, the Bayo River called to me, and as I drew closer to its bank I observed its energy. Currents, rapids, pools and stillness. This series of drawings took shape during those days, accompanied by the force of the river, the earth held me, and the infinite sky that illuminated me.
The second CasaKancha residency took place in the Chilean Patagonia in November 2024. For this occasion, three artists were invited to work and live in a shared space. The common thread connecting them was pattern and line.
Ana Catalina Vicuña (Chile), through a steady rhythm of silent walks and studio work, intervened on paper using a limited range of colored pencils, integrating the pulse of the surrounding nature. Daniela Vera (Chile), with thread stitches on fabric, established a dialogue between Ana Catalina’s drawings and Arcenio’s basketry. Arcenio Moya (Colombia), an artisan from the Wounaan community in Bogotá and Chocó, traveled with his materials and, continuing with the technique and rhythm demanded by weaving, incorporated new forms into his basketry, influenced by the context that hosted him.
These works were presented in the exhibition Super Guau at Inderdesign, Santiago de Chile, during March 2025.
