	“En esta serie me aproximo al color como un ser vivo: que vibra, que pesa, que tiene una temperatura, que siente y respira. Me interesa la comunicación entre un color y otro, las relaciones y los diálogos que nacen.”

	In this series of work, I approach color as a living being: one that vibrates, that has weight and temperature, that feels and breathes. I am interest in the communication between one color and another, the dialogues that emerge between them.

Serie de 21 obras / lápiz sobre papel / 21 X 26 cm / Interdesign, Chile

	
	Día tras día el río Bayo me llamaba, y a medida que me acercaba a la orilla observaba su energía, corrientes, rápidos, remansos y quietud. Esta serie de dibujos se fue gestando esos días, acompañada por esa fuerza del río que me sostenía y el infinito cielo que me iluminaba.


La segunda residencia de CasaKancha se realizó en la Patagonia chilena en noviembre de 2024. Para esta instancia, se invitó a tres artistas a trabajar en un entorno cotidiano donde el diálogo y la colaboración fueron la base del proceso.El hilo conductor entre ellos fue la trama y la línea.

Ana Catalina Vicuña (Chile), a través de un ritmo constante entre caminatas en silencio y trabajo, intervino el papel con una gama acotada de lápices de colores, integrando el pulso de la naturaleza que la rodeaba. Daniela Vera (Chile), con puntadas de hilo sobre tela, estableció un diálogo entre los dibujos de Ana Catalina y la cestería de Arcenio. Arcenio Moya (Colombia), artesano de la comunidad Wounaan en Bogotá y Chocó, viajó con sus materiales, continuando con la técnica y el ritmo que la tejeduría exige, integró nuevas formas a su cestería.
·Estas obras fueron presentadas en la exposición ‘Super Guau’ en Inderdesign, Santiago de Chile, en marzo de 2025.

	Day after day, the Bayo River called to me, and as I drew closer to its bank I observed its energy. Currents, rapids, pools and stillness. This series of drawings took shape during those days, accompanied by the force of the river, the earth held me, and the infinite sky that illuminated me.
&#38;nbsp;The second CasaKancha residency took place in the Chilean Patagonia in November 2024. For this occasion, three artists were invited to work and live in a shared space. The common thread connecting them was pattern and line.

Ana Catalina Vicuña (Chile), through a steady rhythm of silent walks and studio work, intervened on paper using a limited range of colored pencils, integrating the pulse of the surrounding nature. Daniela Vera (Chile), with thread stitches on fabric, established a dialogue between Ana Catalina’s drawings and Arcenio’s basketry. Arcenio Moya (Colombia), an artisan from the Wounaan community in Bogotá and Chocó, traveled with his materials and, continuing with the technique and rhythm demanded by weaving, incorporated new forms into his basketry, influenced by the context that hosted him.

These works were presented in the exhibition Super Guau at Inderdesign, Santiago de Chile, during March 2025.

	H Á B I T O&#38;nbsp; I N F I N I T O

A través de su obra, compuesta por un sinfín de aglomeraciones de pinceladas, la artista busca transmitir su percepción de la naturaleza durante su estadía en Nueva Zelanda.


Sala Gasco Arte Contemporáneo durante sus 21 años de historia ha recibido la obra de 295 artistas, presentando 101 exposiciones con la determinación de difundir las obras y de acercar las expresiones artísticas al transeúnte del casco histórico de Santiago.

En esta oportunidad, presentamos la sexta muestra individual de la artista Ana Catalina Vicuña (Chile,1977), licenciada en Diseño de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Comienza su carrera artística el año 2004 en Nueva Zelanda. Ha participado en numerosas exhibiciones colectivas, tanto en Chile como en el extranjero. 
Su trabajo se ha desplazado a partir de lo geométrico a una figura más somática, desde el campo del grabado, al del bordado y la pintura. El hilo conductor ha sido la bidimensionalidad del soporte y la reiteración del gesto de marcar superficies con líneas, puntadas, manchas y textos.

“Hábito infinito” se titula la muestra, nombre de carácter descriptivo, ya que, define la actitud de la artista frente a su trabajo desde el año 2018. La operación matriz de este proyecto es un perseverante procedimiento que pone en práctica Vicuña, que radica en efectuar insistentemente toques de color acuarela con un pincel sobre láminas de papel blanco. Durante las primeras horas del día, la artista retoma esta acción que realiza hasta el año 2021.

	Ana Catalina nos presenta un conjunto de obras, de diversos formatos, donde azarosamente propone aglomeraciones de pinceladas, que por su cercanía provocan efectos ópticos. También se producen movimientos aleatorios de carácter orgánico generados por manchas con mucha agua, que se desvanecen y disipan cuando la tonalidad se iguala al color de la superficie. 
Desde el año 2021, elabora el último material para esta muestra,&#38;nbsp; donde reincide en el mismo sistema de trabajo, pero en este caso escribe innumerables veces con lápiz grafito sobre el pálido plano la palabra “silencio”, confeccionando mediante el ejercicio de la redundancia una textura mayor.
Los invitamos a vivir esta experiencia conformada por 22 obras que permiten rememorar la luz del alba y evocar el sigilo de su producción en medio del son del centro de Santiago.

	I N F I N I T E&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;H A B I T&#38;nbsp;
Through her work, composed by endless clusters of brushstrokes, the artist communicates her perception of nature during her years in New Zealand.


In the course of 21 years of history, Sala Gasco Arte Contemporáneo has featured the work of 295 artists, holding 101 exhibitions determined to disseminate their artwork and promote artistic expressions to passersby in the historical center of Santiago.

On this occasion, we are pleased to present the sixth individual show of artist Ana Catalina Vicuña (Chile, 1977), a Design graduate from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Vicuña began her artistic career in 2004 in New Zealand and has participated in many collective exhibits, both in Chile and overseas. 

Her work has shifted from the geometrical to more somatic forms, transiting from printmaking to embroidery and painting. The common thread has been the two-dimensionality of the canvas and the repeated gesture of marking surfaces with lines, stitches, stains, and texts.

This show is called "Hábito infinito" (Infinite Habit), which is quite descriptive, for it defines the artist's attitude towards her work ever since 2018. The core operation of this project is a persevering procedure that she puts into practice, based on insistently making watercolor strokes with a paintbrush over sheets of white paper. On the break of day, Vicuña retakes this action, which she will carry on until 2021.

	Ana Catalina presents a body of work, in a variety of formats, in which she randomly offers agglomerations of brushstrokes, which, due to their proximity create optical effects. There are also random organic motions resulting from watery stains, which fade and dissipate when the tone matches the surfaces' color. She has been working on the last material for this exhibition since 2021, returning to the same system, but in this case, writing countless times the word "silencio" (silence) with graphite over the pale surface, creating a deeper texture by exercising redundancy.
We would like to invite you to enjoy this experience of 22 works that evoke the light of dawn and the stealth of its production amid the bustling sounds of downtown Santiago.

	Between New Zealand and Chile, through 2018 and 2022; years of profound changes at a personal and global level. This “habit” became a way of grounding, touching down to earth. During the first hours of the day, everyday, I came back to my ritual. My infinite habit.

	The exhibition Infinite Habit, which included works from Tides (June 2019) along with new ones, in watercolour as well as pencil, took place in Sala Gasco Arte Contemporáneo in Santiago, from March to May 2023. During July of the same year, a selection of works was exhibited in Sala Tierra del Fuego, Punta Arenas.

	Entre Nueva Zelanda y Chile, entre los años 2018 y 2022, aquí y allá, allá y acá; años de cambios profundos a nivel personal y planetario. El “hábito” se transforma en mi cable a tierra. Durante las primeras horas del día vuelvo al ritual, mi prisión y mi refugio. Mi hábito infinito.

	La exposición Hábito Infinito, que incluyó trabajos de Mareas (Junio 2019) junto con nuevas obras, tanto en acuarela como en lápiz, se presentó en Sala Gasco Arte Contemporáneo Santiago, entre los meses de Marzo y Mayo de 2023.
Durante el mes de Julio del mismo año se exhibió una selección en la Sala Tierra del Fuego, en Punta Arenas.
